出版的一项关于“Yizhijiannao Granule and a combination of its effective monomers, icariin and Panax notoginseng saponins, inhibit early PC12 cell apoptosis”的研究发现，中药复方益智健脑颗粒含药血清及淫羊藿甙、三七总皂甙、淫羊藿甙+三七总皂甙单体混合液均对淀粉样蛋白β25-35 所致 PC12 细胞损伤有保护作用，淫羊藿甙与三七总皂甙联用可协同抑制淀粉样蛋白β25-35诱导的 PC12 细胞早期凋亡，其作用与益智健脑颗粒含药血清相当。此项研究结果发表于《中国神经再生研究（英文版）》杂志于2012年8月24期上。作者认为，从益智健脑颗粒的主要药物中筛选出治疗大鼠阿尔茨海默病有效的中药单体成分或单体组合成分，可为益智健脑颗粒治疗阿尔茨海默病的替代用药提供参考依据，但尚需临床研究进一步证实。
